This is a great basic player. It'll get the job done without having to spend a fortune for a bluray player
Great Bluray at a great price November 16, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
We purchased this on Amazon after shopping around for this same model. We got the best price on Amazon and we love the player. What a great picture! Very pleased with it. AAAA+++++
Product is Great - Amazon Customer Service - Not So Great November 16, 2008 3 out of 6 found this review helpful
I simply love this Samsung Blu-Ray player. No problems! Now that Black Friday 2008 is around the corner - many blu-rays disks to pickup under $9.00!!!
Amazon listed the player the morning that I "purchased it". About three hours later, it was $15.00 left. Amazon would not lower the price in my shopping cart - even though the items did not ship for two days later.
Unsuccessful attempts to contact their "local" customer service to stop the shipping and re-order.
Other than that - the BDP-1500 is a great player
Samsung DB-P1500 November 16, 2008 Great, no problems, great picture, excellent upconvert on standard dvd's also. I do not know if all blue-ray takes awhile to load and start the disk like this one. You can also connect it to eithernet and it auto updates, or manual by disk or flash drive. Would recommend.
Excellent budget Bluray player. November 14, 2008 2 out of 4 found this review helpful
This is one of the first sub- $200 bluray players. I have played with mine for about a month, and I feel I can give a decent review now.
First off, this player has been absolutely flawless. I've watched ~10 bluray movies and this player has not missed a beat. No freeze-ups, no audio drop-outs, nothing. It's truly been a great player.
My Onkyo 576 "HD-ready" receiver (as I like to call it) handles the already decoded TrueHD via HDMI beautifully. The only complaint I have is that the P1500 can not decode DTS-HD/MA, only the core DTS. This is its major drawback, but I knew this going into it, so I can't really complain. I someday hope they offer a firmware update to allow it to decode the DTS HD codec, but I'm not holding my breath.
My other observation is that this player is not the best "upconverter" when it comes to playing SD-DVD's. I use another DVD player for that task - the Toshiba A3 HD DVD player. It is slow, but scales very well.
The best thing about this player is how unbelievably fast it loads compared to my old A3. I love the speed... it's just like a regular dvd player. Turn it on, and it's ready to go.
Overall, I have been very pleased with my purchase. I love the beautiful bluray audio and video. It is exactly what I've come to expect after living with HD DVD for the past 1.5 years. And now I can keep up with new releases. I love HD media.
