Toshiba do not support region free machines October 1, 2007 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
Take care, any Toshiba DVD player that is region free will not be replaced by Toshiba even if it goes wrong within a year. Toshiba will not handle any machines other than Region 1 and will tell you to contact the supplier for a replacement.
Works well for the price! August 26, 2007 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
This plays all of my regions 1 and 2 dvds, no problem. This is a real no region player- you don't have to type in any code or anything. Just insert and play! Good picture as well. You can hook up the high def. compatible wires instead of the old red white and yellow hooks if you want, which is a nice feature. Good remote. Overall great product.
Not great, but adequate August 9, 2007 15 out of 15 found this review helpful
I bought this DVD player because I wanted a system that could play any region's DVD's. On the whole, it is adequate to the job, but it does have it's drawbacks.
THE PROS: It's relatively inexpensive -- it was easily set-up (maybe ten minutes top from opening the box to power-up) -- instructions for use are straight forward -- the player is slim and lightweight
THE CONS: The DVD drawer is cheaply made and it sounds like the motor that opens and closes it will give out at any minute -- the system has frozen up on two occassions while on pause (it won't respond to any buttons pushed, even power off - I had to unplug the player in order to disengage it) -- Once powered off, it does not save the movie where you left off viewing
Overall, I guess it serves its purpose. I would suggest, however, spending a few dollars more and get a more reliable machine.
So far so good June 8, 2007 13 out of 13 found this review helpful
We were moving overseas and needed an expensive multiregion DVD player. This certainly fit the bill. You can tell that it is somewhat cheaply made--for example, the tray that you put the disk on seems like it could easily break. We've only had it for a few months (though it has gotten quite a bit of use) but so far it is preforming well and we have not had any problems.
