Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
The DVD-P241 sleek progressive scan DVD player with the latest features assures you a pleasurable viewing experience.

Amazon.com Product Description
Samsung's DVD-P241 features high-end progressive-scan component-video outputs, built-in MP3 decoding for your home-brewed CD compilations, and even compatibility with JPEG image CDs and Kodak Picture CDs. Now you can enjoy a slideshow of your digital pictures right on your television.

Whether your living room is currently home to an HDTV or you're merely thinking of "someday," the DVD-P241 stands ready to deliver the full potential of your DVDs. Progressive scanning, referred to as 480p for the number of horizontal lines that compose the video image, creates a picture using twice the scan lines of a conventional DVD picture, giving you higher resolution and sharper images while eliminating nearly all motion artifacts.

The DVD-P241 also performs 3:2 pulldown. DVD mastering introduces a common distortion when adjusting 24-frames-per-second movies to 30 fps video; 3:2 pulldown digitally corrects this distortion, removing the redundant information to display a film-frame-accurate picture. Another handy feature is the player's EZ View letterbox eliminator, which lets you enjoy full-screen pictures on 4:3 aspect-ratio TVs--even when you're watching widescreen DVDs.

A set of left/right analog-audio outputs channel audio to Dolby Pro Logic receivers and stereo televisions. Both Dolby Digital and DTS 5.1-channel surround-sound signals can be routed through the player's digital-audio output for direct connection to a full-featured audio/video receiver. Composite- and S-video outputs bring compatibility with nearly any television.

What's in the Box
DVD player, remote control, remote batteries, user's manual, stereo analog audio interconnect/composite-video cable, and warranty information.

1 out of 5 stars out of stock???   November 4, 2008
I ordered this item and i was charged on the same day but it took amazon a whole month to let me know that it was out of stock. that whole time i was waiting for it was a waste. they did give me a complete refund, which was expected. but if you try to get this item please make sure they have it in stock first.

4 out of 5 stars Good buy...... didn't last forever though   August 11, 2008
This DVD player worked very well. Didn't care for the Fast Forward, but I did get used to it.

I write this with actual knowledge, since I used the product for 4 years before it finally died. I definitely feel I got my money's worth.

2 out of 5 stars Walter B Reed = slave to the Samsung Corporation   January 2, 2007
Having recently replaced my BetaMax cassette player with this hunk of junk, I learned that it is not "Not bad", as W.B. Reed gushes, but rather would serve well as an oversized paperweight. It performed so poorly, I took a poop in the DVD tray and sent it back to Samsung. They were less than pleased with my "statement", but I think we've all learned our lessons: They will stop making bad electronics, and I will stop pooping in them.

5 out of 5 stars Never had a problem with it.   March 28, 2006

I've owned this DVD player for over a year now and it has never gave me a problem. The component hook-up really makes the quality of the picture much better. A little better than S-video. However, I have an HDTV so now I have to buy a 1080i High Definition up conversion player. I am so satisfied with this one I will be sure to purchase a SAMSUNG.
