Useful DVD player October 25, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought this DVD player from Amazon.com. It's very useful, because it plays all foreign DVD movies, it also plays all my burn DVD+R and DVD+RW movies, DVD-R and DVD-RW movies, basically it plays all kind of recordable discs. I am very happy and so useful for me at inexpensive price.
Price Breaker - Avoid This Vendor! October 24, 2008 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
Promptly sent. Individual pieces bubble-wrapped and sent loose in a USPS box; no factory box or factory packaging; no warranty materials; nothing but a nearly indecipherable photocopy of the Philips manual (beginning at page 7). Four batteries in the remains of an 8-pack retail package. Do I believe that this was "new' as advertised? Not a chance! When this review was first published, vendor asked what he could do to make things right - I told him to send me the new DVD player that I paid for. Never heard from him again. Beware of this Amazon vendor - spend your $$$ elsewhere".
Get this DVD player now! August 16, 2008 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I'm very impressed with this inexpensive player. It took me all of 10 seconds to apply the region-free hack. It plays both my NTSC Region 1 and PAL Region 2 disc great.
It also plays my DVD-Rs with no problem. I don't have any DVD+Rs so I can't comment on the review of the guy who had a problem with them.
Another thing that impressed me is the lack of lag time that you usually get when you insert a disc in a cheaper player. This one starts playing within seconds.
So if you're looking for an inexpensive DVD player but not a "cheap" player, this is it. I like it so much, I'm going to buy a second one for the bedroom.
Good player, good price August 15, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Like this dvd player a lot. Easy to change to multi-region, even for one as technologically challenged as me. I thought my old dvd player was just fine and dandy until I used this one: With my old dvd player much frustration and cursing would ensue if I felt the urge to go away for ten minutes to make a cup of tea in the middle of the movie--if I pressed pause the stupid thing would turn itself off after five minutes and would go back to the beginning of the movie, Aaargh! This one resumes exactly where I left off! Picture is good, sound is good, plus as there is no eject button on the remote, you have to get up to open/close the tray, which provides some exercise--added bonus!
Does not play DVD+R, otherwise works well May 4, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This dvd player works well for the price for all of my store-bought DVDs. However, it is listed to be able to play DVDR's also but will not play them for me. I have only tried DVD+R and not DVD-R, but it says that it plays both and doesn't work for the +R so far. I know it is not a problem with my DVDRs because they play fine on another DVD player in my house.
