A great DVD that Does it ALL! August 29, 2007 This is a Great DVD Player for the Price. It plays almost every format I have thrown at it....AVI, Mpegs, etc. I have a Phillips DVP642 and this player is so much better even at the most basic remote and GUI level.
Upconverting looks super and its so clean.
The Remote is simple to use.
I love this player and would buy it over the Phillips any day!
Great DVD player for the money December 20, 2006 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I have been using this DVD player for a month and it never failed on me. Supporting a long list of file format (DVD+/-R, DivX, WMA, etc), this one will make the best picture quality through HDMI cable, which is the selling point.
Those who feels "fooled" by the upscaling feature just need a better understanding about this feature: it's never about upscaling those store-purchased DVD; it's to upscale those home-made low quality video (converted from VHS, etc), to make it a bit better but that's it. You SHOULD NOT expect too much on this feature, so that you won't feel "fooled"...
Stopped working after 2 weeks. Upconvert is a joke December 17, 2006 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
Returned this player after 2 weeks when it would no longer power up. This was a blessing in disguise because I was very disappointed in the upconverting capabilities while it was working. Using an HDMI cable, the 1080i HD upconversion looked blurry & worse than my 5-year-old DVD player! Stay away from this product. I'll just wait until the HD DVD players come down in the price this year.
