Magnavox MWD 2206 DVD/VCR August 23, 2008 This is a wonderful product for persons who like things simplified and do not want to change to new "gadgets"!! The VCR side tapes shows directly from the television, also plays the tapes. The DVD side plays any movies on dvd you wish to see. The DVD DOES NOT record (which is fine with me!)......the VCR DOES record directly from the television. The VCR DOES NOT record movies from the DVD side, nor does the DVD side record anything from the VCR side. The only recording that goes on is from the television set to the VCR tape. I have done this for many years and do not wish to change. That's why I purchased this discontinued model from Magnavox! They work fine and are great for me, and people who want things simple and good!!
very poor quality November 17, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
We bought this unit as a player for an extra room so it did not get used much. After only 4 months of minimal use, the player started shutting off a few seconds after power-up. It would also make a very loud gear on gear grinding noise. The unit was never abused and only played a handfull of movies before going into the trash. I supose you get what you pay for. :(
DVD Player won't stop April 15, 2007 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
After using the DVD player for 4 months, the DVD player woul not stop spinning. This prevented the DVD from playing as well as unloading.
As the system plays only DVDs or VHS cassettes at one time, the VCR was also unusable.
Buy this player if you just want to play DVD/VHS formats January 2, 2007 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
It doesn't support DIVX, MPEG or AVI files. Picture quality is ok. Would accept that it runs quite well for the price($49). I haven't heard any sound from VHS so far!
Will keep this one as a secondary unit. If you just want to play DVD/VHS tapes, go for this one.
In reviews i often do hear about remote problems. Well in this case, buttons in remote are quite simple and straightforward.
Reliable performance at a great price September 6, 2006 13 out of 13 found this review helpful
When my husband and I were finally ready to move into the 21st century and purchase a DVD player for our living room, we weren't quite ready to give up on our older technology (ie, our VHS tapes), so this is the unit we purchased. We decided on Magnavox because the year before, we had first taken the DVD plunge by purchasing a small, even more inexpensive Magnavox DVD player (for my workout room) which had delivered flawless performance. So far, this product has met our expectations as well. Both DVD and VHS playback are excellent, and the simple features of the unit are easy-to-use. The one criticism we have of this product is the remote, which is quite confusing: it has too many tiny buttons, and the most-used items are not featured prominently enough. Otherwise, we are completely satisfied with our purchase, and we would definitely recommended this unit to others looking for a basic, affordable combo player.
