Product Description The i903 frees you from the bondage of a wired environment using Bluetooth wireless technology. Not only that, but outside sounds that can be a distraction to pure music enjoyment or an annoyance during an important phone call virtually disappear, helping you focus on what you want to hear and not on what you have to hear. This swivel-designed noise-canceling headset has comfortable soft-cushioned ear pads, and with its mini-USB connection you can attach to most audio devices using the included mini USB to 3.5 mm cable. Plus, using the audio transmitter with Bluetooth wireless technology, the i903 essentially transforms an audio device not equipped with Bluetooth wireless technology into one with it. Bluetooth wireless technology also helps you connect to your phone without being physically attached to it, freeing you to walk around and use your hands the way you would if you were talking to a person in the room with you.

fair audio + poor noise canceling = don't waste your money October 25, 2008 I ordered these hoping that the other reviews were being overly pessimistic. I was wrong. The other reviews are overly optimistic.
The Pros: - They charge up and work as bluetooth headphones/headset. - They fold up nicely into a compact package.
The Cons: - No noise canceling when wearing normally on your head. - They do not come with the advertised mini-USB cord to connect to my cell phone (the cord is a 3.5mm to mini-USB, and the headphone side needs the mini-USB) - They are really ugly on your head. - Musical performance is fair.
Functionality: I bought these specifically for working in the server room and for the occasional flight on the turboprop commuter and cross-country flight. The noise in the server room is a lot like a commercial flight -- a constant white noise in the background focused in the mid-to-upper range. The bluetooth feature would have been great for the server room work as I walk around but would like to remain tethered to the laptop or cell phone without a cord. The goal of quieting the white noise is not accomplished with these headphones. The bluetooth feature works fine.
If I press the headphones very tightly to my head, so tightly that it hurts, then the noise canceling is noticeable. Wearing the headset normally, the noise canceling has no effect.
Acoustically, the headphones are fair. The bluetooth audio works fine. The sound is shallow in both corded and bluetooth mode, but slightly better in corded mode. Good audio quality is hard to achieve from an on-the-ear headphone, but this set does not come close to my other headphones costing just $20-30. There is basically no bass, and the high end is also quite limited.
How they could be improved: If these headphones were assembled into a solid and well-sealed around-the-ear design, they might work quite well.
Summary: Do not buy these headphones. If you want bluetooth headphones, spend the 100 bucks on a nice audiophile around-the-ear set, and they'll do an as good or better job of noise canceling by simply sealing your ears from surrounding noise. If you want inexpensive noise-canceling headphones, go with the Plane Quiet NC-6 or NC-7 at 30-50% less money. Or, for even better noise canceling, and costing just pennies, get some foam earplugs.
Poor reception - cuts in and out October 13, 2008 Terrible product. Cuts in and out constantly as I walk. It's charged. That's not the problem. If I stand absolutely still and don't move it plays ok. But who stands absolutely still while listening to music? I got this so I could take a walk without having wires attached. I've gone back to my bose headset - wires and all.
ALSO - Noise canceling when turned on creates a buzzing sound. It's the only device I had paired up and it created all kinds of noise when noise canceling was turned on.
I got this as a free gift. I would never pay for this product.
Quite a good product... September 19, 2008 I have been using these headphones for two weeks and am really impressed. They are light weight but not flimsy. This could cause problems with durability later but with a little care it should be fine. The sound is very good. They are very comfortable on your head: good design tradeoff between bulky studio headphones and ear-buds that feel like QTips stuck in your ear. They work well in noise cancelling mode when music is playing and I cant wait to try them on a long flight to see how they work with ambient plane noise. The wireless blue-tooth operation to a cell phone or laptop works well (see later) and gives 6 hours+ with canceling off and slightly less with canceling on. The mini-usb from a standard headphone jack works well too. There are NO strange hisses or blips or crackles in noise cancelling mode, just the normal low level hiss that any noise canceling headphone gives when it is on. If its annoying, just turn it off or dont buy noise canceling headphones in the first place. The integrated mic works well. I have used the bluetooth mic/phones wireless with skype and the sound quality (mic speaking and headphones listening) is fine for phone calls. The only issue for me was establishing the bluetooth connection to PC or cell phone BUT I have this same issue with all my bluetooth devices: Bluetooth is a great technology BUT it is a pain to first setup on any device. All in all, I recommend these ILUV i903's. I looked long and hard and there arent many wireless, stereo headphone with mic units out there. This one is definitely worth considering if you are looking for one!
if you can read, you can do anything. August 28, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
first of all, lets clear the air...if you can read you can do anything. that said, and in response to those who say the noise canceling is "non-existent" or "poor" in this product, it is just fine. it does what it's suppose to do. i had noise canceling headphones from logitech and these are no different. it is OKAY! i had to replace my logitech headphones because the swivel feature of the turning ear pieces on both left and right ear broke, and get this, i had the headphones 6 months and they broke ONE DAY APART! my personal opinion...swiveling ear pieces are not what they are cracked up to be. rather, they are just one more thing to go wrong with headphones that forces the user to have to break down and buy a new pair long before necessary had not that feature EVER existed. on this score, iLuv and in fact, just about EVERY manufacturer loses, because they've all gone in this direction and therefore, the consumer who has no other choice but to buy them, also loses.
the bluetooth feature is what drew me to iLuv, since ONLY iLuv has a bluetooth headphone that ALSO includes the invaluable noise canceling feature i need for my work. with my old headphones, i found myself tethered to a connection between the headphone itself and the voice recorder that i also use. using a bluetooth headphone broke my bondage to the wire that connected me to the two of them and also made my life a whole lot easier when my cell rang on vibrate in my pocket.
before when the cell rang, i'd have to remove the headset from my ears by wrapping them around the back of my neck, then dig the cell out of my pocket while driving, and answer it. i told all my friends, DON'T call me when i'm working or i'm going to get someone killed on the road trying to answer your call. but with the iLuv 903, i'm in heaven. because of bluetooth, now all i have to do is push the button on my right ear to answer my cell phone calls. no more do i have to dig it out of my pocket at risk of life, limb and property!
with regard to the size of the ear cushions and feeling like a freak for wearing them, hey, the earphones were NOT intended to cover the ear, but rather to set ON the ear. there are many different designs of earphones. this is merely one design and it is a common design that every manufacturer of headphones mimics.
besides the swivel feature that i hate that unfortunately now seems to be appearing on all makes and models of headphones across the entire spectrum of the industry, there are only two things i can find to criticize. one, the dongle wire is permanently tethered to the dongle, so if the wire goes bad, you'll have to replace the entire dongle. but on that count, DON'T WORRY, there are lots of other replacement dongles you can use that are much more sturdily built (at least for my needs) than the one supplied by iLuv, but i had no other choice in headphones and you may not either. i HAD to have a bluetooth noise canceling headset and for the extra money of the version 903 vs. the 913, i consider the extra money spent well worth it and you will too as long as you consider the purchase a "starter product" with the intention of replacing that dongle down the road. that was and is my plan. that wire WILL go bad during my daily usage of this product and my purchase was made with the thought in mind that the supplied dongle would probably not last more than a month or two for my usage needs. are you listening iLuv? you need to create a dongle where if the wire goes back, you need only to replace the wire, not the entire dongle!
the 2nd criticism is i can't get the volume control to work on the headphones, but this is minor as on all audio devices that i know of, the audio device itself should also have a volume control of its own. so i go back to that unit and adjust the volume from there instead.
oh, and as an aside...this is not an issue with iLuv, but i just learned that bluetooth signals don't work through walls without the audio breaking up. so if that is important to you, you might want to wait until the technology improves.
as for the rest of you manufacturers of headphones out there, it's time you got with the program. there is no doubt in my mind that iLuv is making a killing on this product, since they are the only ones who seem to have it.
very dissappointed and still waiting for my refund. July 29, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
This product was sent to my sister for a gift. what was sent wasn't what was advertised. It was broken and in poor packaging. I will not buy from that merchandiser ever again. The worst service I have ever had on amazon.
