Amazon.com Product Description Most noise-reducing headphones feature large over-the-head or behind-the-neck headbands, making them a bit bulky to use while traveling or working out. Not so the Sony MDR-EX51LP Fontopia headphones, whose ultra-light in-the-ear design sounds great while minimizing distracting ambient noise. The closed-type construction makes the headphones a perfect fit for airline, train, or bus travel, or while dancing or skating to your own tune. The phones owe their audio performance to the extra-small 9 mm drivers and neodymium magnets fitted inside each earpiece. The drivers and magnets combine to generate high-intensity sound, with a deeper-than-expected bass response (as low as 6 Hz) and refreshingly crisp mid- and high-range tones. Listeners will also welcome the two sizes of ear buds that come with the headphones, ensuring that users find the right match for their individual ear shapes. The soft silicone buds are also responsible for much of the noise reduction. Additional features include an oxygen-free copper cord that reduces noise and improves signal transfer, a gold-plated mini-plug that resists corrosion, a stylish neck chain cord, and a streamlined carrying case that easily slips into a shirt pocket. What's in the Box MDR-EX51LP headphones, two sizes of ear buds, carrying case, user's manual.

So-so Phones September 2, 2008 These are supposedly "Noise Cancelling" earphones but they achieve this only with extra padding around the earpiece which create a very tight fit in the ear. You can get used to the fit but the sound is a bit tinny and not worth the ear discomfort. I would save my money here and go for the real thing next time.
Bravo, Sony !! August 15, 2008 Absolutely the best ear buds I have used. Over the five years I have had my iPod, I had 20 different pair of buds. I bought the very expensive Koss as well. These Sonys are by far, by far the best ones yet. They are extremely comfortable, and the fit is perfect. Not to mention the unbelievable sound. Bass is rich and deep, and the treble isn't tinny, but gives the music a terrific presence. I listen to everything from doo-wop to popular to classic rock, and all comes through with clarity and dimension. Bravo, Sony!!
Best Buds Ever! August 15, 2008 By far the best earbuds I've used. They are far more comfortable than Apple's earbuds and the sound quality is fantastic! When I first used them, I thought I heard someone behind me getting an email chime, but low and behold it was me!
I would have loved them if they worked properly August 10, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Sony MDR-EX51LP Fontopia In-The-Ear Headphones, White
I would have loved these except only one ear bud worked. I was flying from Boston to North Carolina with stops only to find out only one ear worked. I already owned black ones and one ear pooped out with that pair. I have returned the new ones and am hoping for a new pair soon. I like the product because I have small ears and the different size buds are great for me. Plus the price at Amazon is great. I can't wait to receive them. Hope they come soon. Tired of listening on one side.
Alright July 31, 2008 These ear phones are ok if you are looking for something to sit on an airplane with. If you want to workout with them then they are a bad idea. I generally don't like Sony products from past experience of bad design and lack of quality. I would say that this is true for the headphones as well. The ear pieces are not equally divided which allows for easy detection of which plug goes in which ear, but when running it causes the ear pieces to pull out. If you like Sony then give it a shot, otherwise find a better brand for $20 these where not worth it.
