Come on all you nay sayers! Since when was ANY type of photography affordable or 100% quality-consistent for the non-pro? I got my Pogo today and it is GREAT.....ok, it's not perfect-- it's not cheap, it's not power-efficient so I hear (though I haven't run down my battery yet), but it is so cool and usable and portable and fun! Yes I miss my old polaroid, but I am buying into the next wave...and hoping that while I am thoroughly enjoying my little pogo, Polaroid is working on the bionical pogo, gen 2: a bigger, faster, better version. Still, in the meantime, I will celebrate the imperfections and have fun doing it.

I just bought this for myself as a birthday present, using misc. gift cards I had received. I was really excited to try it out, and once I opened it up, I discovered that it doesn't work with my Sony cybershot (bought 2006), LG cameraphone (bought 2008), or a MemoryStick card reader! So I can't use it. BE SURE TO CHECK THE COMPATIBILITY LIST BEFORE YOU BUY!!

Just got the the Polaroid Pogo. I think it's fantastic. One of my measures for a great product is how easy it is to get going and use. The Pogo is very easy to use and works just as advertised.
From cellphones, it seems that any phone that can send an image using Bluetooth will probably be able to use the Pogo. Just perform a Bluetooth search, type in the provided code and you're connected. The image is sent as a file to the Pogo, you wait about 30 seconds, and the image slowly rolls out.
I also printed from my mid-range Canon camera using a USB cable and it was even easier. Just select the image on the camera and press the print button on the back of the camera. I know simpler cameras may not have a print button, but as long at they support the PICT bridge standard, they probably have some kind of menu option to print.
Much has been said about the quality of the pictures. They aren't perfect and I found that close up images print more clearly than distant pictures, which are quite grainy. But frankly, one has to look at what this product is aimed at. I see it as a fun product to take along to social functions where one can quickly capture the moment and hand out a photo or two for the participants to keep. If you want great prints, go use something else.
The non-support of the iPhone is a pity (I have an iPhone), but I'm pretty sure that's an iPhone issue, not the Pogo. Phones that do not let one send photos using Bluetooth can't work with the Pogo. Neither the iPhone, nor the Sidekick LX allow that, so don't blame the Pogo!
So, considering how much I enjoy the Pogo, why only 4 stars? Well, the prints are quite pricey at 30c to 45c each and they're a bit small. The battery life is OK, but not great meaning you have to recharge the batteries approximately every 5-7 prints. Maybe you can get 10 prints out of a charge (there are 10 prints in each print pack from Polaroid).
But, there is no doubt, I'd recommend this as a great family gift. Well done to Polaroid. I look forward to future versions...

This is not about DPI or anything like that. We're not saving the world or even trying for a very large or accurate representation of it. However! When you can use your phone to take a picture of someone and instantly print it on a printer they're holding in their hands, the look on the face of the subject makes this printer TOTALLY WORTH IT.
You may want to wait for v2, however, because you'll probably inherit broader support from bluetooth and pictbridge devices (both of mine work, no problem, however my usb/bluetooth dongle thinks this printer is a PIM or something and wants to exchange business cards or something with it). meh.
Also, v2 may have longer battery life and *if we're lucky?* a smaller recharging brick (no kidding, the charger is LARGER than the printer). But, seriously, try my experiment:
Turn the printer on and hand it to a co-worker, especially someone that you want to make smile. Then ask them if you can take their picture with your phone. Say: "hold this a second, can I take your picture?" (as though you just want a record of this person). Take the picture and say "thank you" then, quickly now, before they lose focus, tell your bluetooth-enabled mobile camera phone to send-via-bluetooth and voila! the machine makes a soft wirr and kazaa! presto! the person is soon holding a picture of him-or-herself!
Then you can tell them to keep it.
"Hey, Jeff, can I take your picture?"
"Depends on what you're going to do with it."
"Give it to you, if this works..."
"Um... ok"
"Wow, that's really cool"

First of all, this is really easy to use. I simply hooked it up to my camera, set my camera to browse photos and an option to print popped right up - it couldn't have been easier. The photos are pretty quick to develop and look great. I agree that the print quality is not perfect, but I actually like this - you can get kind of neat effects (nothing dramatic, but the prints have a particular feel to them, just like classic polaroid pics). If you are looking for precise realism, this isn't the printer for you. However, if you are looking for a fun way to give people a copy of the photo you just took or you want to create a collage or use these photos as part of an art project, etc., then I highly recommend the Pogo. I have thousands of photos stored on my computer but I almost never print them out because it seems like a hassle and gets expensive. However, I have already printed out 40 pogo pics and had a blast doing it!
