5 out of 5 stars Great Headphones for the Price   November 30, 2008
These sound great and while I would not want to sit on them, they are still quite durable. Definitely worth a buck, actually about $10. It's important to not that I did not receive the ones in the picture but instead grey ones.

1 out of 5 stars The WORST pair of headphones i've EVER owned!   November 8, 2008
And as an audiophile and audio enthusiast, i've owned MANY over the years, both cheap and expensive. In short, these headphones have a very 'veiled' and subdued sound, which noticeably holds back much of the music. Even for the low money, you can find much better sounding 'cans' in the ten dollar range. I have a cheap set of Sony's that cost me around ten bucks that 'blow away' these Maxell's in every respect... better and tighter bass, and more airy and detailed mids and highs. This probably why I found these on sale for four bucks at 'Big Lots'!

4 out of 5 stars Good quality for price but...   September 18, 2008
I got these to replace my broken work ones. They were so cheap I got two and my shipping was still more expensive. The sound quality is very good for the price. My main complaint is the shortness of the cord. It barely reaches from the laptop on my desk to my head. If you're using these with an MP3 player in your pocket or something, you should be fine. Otherwise, you might need to buy an extension cable that would probably cost more than the actual headphones.

EDIT: After a week of using them, the left headphone died. They were cheap enough that I ordered two at the time, so hopefully it was a fluke and this one will last longer. Otherwise I can't really recommend these to anyone. I'd give 'em about 2.5 stars right now because they are a little tight around the head for long usage sessions (but I've got a big head too)...

4 out of 5 stars Great for my purposes   July 31, 2008
I have a half dozen different headphones that I use with my computer and MP3 player. Previous to these headphones I was using noise suppression headphones from JVC for my MP3 player. They work great but are too heavy and too thick.
I like to go to sleep listening to Audiobooks and thick headphones cause my ear to hurt when I lay on it since I sleep on my side.

So I needed a headphone that is thin enough to reduce the pressure of laying on the cup and soft enough to still cusion my ear lobes enough.

These headphones do the trick just right.
Being around the neck, I no longer have the problem of them falling off during the night like I did with my over the head phones. Having all wiring coming off of only one side also helps since I was always worried I would choke myself to death while asleep with the wiring on the other phones.

The only reason they don't get 5 stars is because they are a little soft on the sound. This isn't a problem when going to sleep since I turn down the sound anyway. But during the day they are overwhelmed by surrounding noises (which is why I have my noise suppression headphones). So they would be a tad better if they were a bit louder and had a sound control dial. But the ultra cheap price prevents that from happening.

The other reason for not getting 5 stars is that the bracket is not adjustable and is a bit on the hard side. Again, not a problem when sleeping but when sitting in a chair and leaning back I am constantly having to adjust the position of the bracket since if it is directly behind me when I lean back it moves the cups to the front of my ears so far that I almost can't hear at all.

This is another item that I don't see changing since if the bracket were adjustable it would increase the cost to make them and the bracket would not be as sturdy as this one is. So rolling over in my sleep might end up with a broken bracket. The one provided would be very hard to snap or bend.

So they are far better then the ear buds I had previously and cost about the same. Safer for my hearing than earbuds as well and light as can be.

A very good MP3 headset at a very low price.

4 out of 5 stars Good   March 8, 2008
For under 5 bucks, hard to resist,
although i did get the color combination in the picture shown (mine was grey and white), but works just fine!!
