Best bang for your buck November 19, 2008 Being a broke college student, I can't lay down big bucks for earphones (that and I have a bad habit of losing them frequently...) so buying a pair that works for me has been rough because I have A) small ear holes and B) different sized earholes. I've tried many different brands of earphones: Sony, iPod, Brookstone, Skull Candy...and different types: buds, over the ear, around the ear...and I'm happy to say that I've finally found a pair that is the best bang for my buck. Here's my breakdown:
Sound: Good base, lots of highs. Makes some sounds a little hard to listen to but nothing my iPod EQ function can't fix. I will say though, I do have to twist them around a bit to find the right "angle" to get some good base going.
Fit: Comes with three sizes, and the smallest one actually fits into my ear and refused to budge even after some violent head shaking and jumping up and down. They are also very comfortable.
Quality: Cord is very lightweight but sturdy. Comes with a case that is convenient for keeping the cord tangle free.
Noise cancellation: GREAT. I have them in now and I can't hear myself type.
Again, best bang for your buck in my book. If you are very particular with sound quality, these aren't for you, but overall, sound with fit and cost makes this the best choice for me.
ok, but not great October 10, 2008 I bought these a couple of months back because they were on sale. I wanted something that kept the noise away better than the stock iPod ear buds. These do keep away the noise, but the sound that they produce is very lacking. They sound very tinny to me with very boomy bass both overpowering any midrange. I know it's not a one-off issue since I also purchased a set for my wife (she's fine with them -- she's not picky at all about sound). I eventually purchased a pair of Sennheiser CX300 which were about twice the price, but 10x the sound quality.
Now, if only I could find a pair of in ear headphones that wouldn't transmit the cable sounds!
Ouch. October 7, 2008 It has no lows but A LOT of HIGH which is IRRITATING! It sounds like someone scratching a chalkboard. Don't buy this item! Find one that's more sensitive for your ears!
No lows!!!! Terrible sound! October 6, 2008 I expected these to be pretty good based on the other reviews. There were plenty of highs, but NO LOWS at all! Absolutely no bass. I was really disappointed -- assume they were defective since everyone else seems to think these are decent. At least Amazon let me send them back and refunded my money. Yay Amazon!
Great sound, flimsy cord July 18, 2008 These worked great for me for about a month. I was amazed at how much sound was blocked out--I was able to listen to my Sansa at about half the volume as with my old headphones. The reason for the two stars is that the wires lost connection right where the Tune Buds plug into the MP3 player after just a month of use. The cords really do seem terribly thin, and there is no stress reliever at the point where the wires lost connection. It's a pity, because this is otherwise a great product.
By-the-way, Amazon was great about the problem. I just missed the return period, and I sent them an e-mail explaining the problem. They graciously agreed to take them back and give me a refund (although I'm still waiting for the refund, but I just sent them earlier this week.)
