MP3 Headphones November 23, 2008 I must have over 15 sets of headphones. My top end headphones are AKG 701K. I have been on a mission to find the best set of MP3 headphones. My criteria has been weight, sound quality, cord length, and comfort. These Philips SHL 9500 headphones meet and exceed my expectations of an MP3 headphone. The sound quality is unbelieveable for headphones this small and light. They are so light and comfortable. My only complaint is that the cord is 4 feet rather than the typical 1 meter length of most MP3 headphones. But that is not that big a deal given all of the other excellent qualities of these headphones. The sound quality of these headphones rivals most of the full size headphones I own. I would highly recommend these headphones for any application.
Good but..... September 1, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I have been looking for a pair of over the ear headphones because my Sony MDREX85LP sound great but give me some ear fatigue. These seem like they would be a good backup to use while at work plus the price was right. Well they sound pretty good for the money. I hear good bass, mids and treble... not as good as the Sonys but still pretty good. The problem for me is that since I will be using them in the office not only do I need isolation... they also need to contain my music as well. This is the area where the Philips phones come up a little short. Any volume pass 1/4 of max and your neighbors will probably be able to sing or in my case rap along. Not sure if I will be keeping them although I like them and their portability a lot.
Amazing Sound August 7, 2008 I've only had these for 1 day but the sound is amazing from highs to lows. Not only can I hear the music but you can "feel" it. I'm hearing stuff with these that I missed with other headphones.
I use these with my Sansa Fuze at home, work and in between. The headphones to a decent job at blocking moderate external noise.
Lightweight, comfortable and priced right. I may buy a second pair.
Best Bang for the Buck June 30, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I have a pair of Sennheiser HD580 Precision Audiophile Headphones. Yes, I am a bit of a snob. But, and this is a big but, these Philips SHL9500's, which I bought for the purpose of using with portable devices, are without a doubt the best headband headphones I have ever had on my head--for the buck. Period. Ear Buds pooey!
These Philips headphones are, imo, better in every way than the Sony MDR-V150's. They are also better than the Sony MDR-V300's.
When I received the 9500's I straightway plugged them into my ONKYO to let the neodymium magnets loosen up a bit. The next morning I got the LED out. "Wow!", all I can say is one "Whole Lotta Love". Then I went Super Audio CD and turned my attention to the Dark Side of the Moon. Again, "MONEY" well spent. Then out of respect a little Ellas McDaniel, AKA, Bo Diddley. Who do you love, baby? I use a cobra-snake for a necktie. Who do you love? Who do you love?
When Philips says "Lightweight Premium Headphones", they mean it... for about $20 bucks. "Wow!"
Very nice May 14, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I've only been listening to these for a day, just got them yesterday. If they are going to sound better after some break-in time, I have to say Wow!, because they sound great now. I am hearing detail that I never heard on my Koss porta pro, they actually rival my Senns 595s.
I am listening to them on an old Archos 20 gig recorder, and 95% of the tunes are coded at 320, with Rockbox firmware loaded, so I can really fine tune the sound. Also attached is a Total AirHead amp.
Very comfortable and lightweight.
