With the Wireless-G Music Bridge, you can send whatever music your PC is playing--whether it's from media players, games, Internet radio, or MP3 files--through your home network and to your stereo system. If you're running a wireless (802.11b and 802.11g) network, the Music Bridge will send your music to your stereo with no need for any additional cables. Simply connect the Wireless-G Music Bridge to your entertainment system via the included RCA cable, and you'll be ready to start cranking the tunes. Alternately, you can also use standard 10/100 Ethernet cabling to connect to your network.

If you have a 5.1-channel surround sound system, the Wireless-G Music Bridge includes software that creates a virtual 5.1-channel sound in your PC, so that you can take full advantage of your stereo system. The Wireless-G Music Bridge also lets you choose what audio from your PC you want to play over your audio system. For example, you can choose to send music but not email alerts or other PC tones. Or you may want to keep the alert tones streaming. It's entirely up to you.

An easy-to-use setup wizard will guide you through the configuration so that you can be up and running in no time. The Wireless-G Music Bridge supports 128-bit WEP encryption to ensure a secure connection and is compatible with wireless 802.11b and 802.11g standards.

2 out of 5 stars Great Concept, product not ready for the market   December 3, 2008
I bought this product with the intention of playing music from my desktop PC to a remote set of speakers in another room. Although I did get the Music Bridge to play music on another room, I experienced problems when switching back and forth between the diferrent speakers, I experienced sound skipping and the product is unable to play music simultaneously in your PC speakers and Music Bridge.

The installation was not a problem, I got it to work with both Windows Media Player and iTunes. The main problem I had with this product was switching back an forth between the PC speakers and the speakers connected through the Music Bridge. Most of the time when I switched between speakers I lost sound on all of them and the only way to get them back on was to restart the computer. I called technical support and they told me this happened often and the only solution was to restart the computer. The Linksys Music Bridge uses it's own audio driver which replaces your PC audio driver when in use. This apparently causes instability in the audio drivers which causes them to fail.

After all, I returned the product and had to spend three times the money for an Apple Airport Express. Now I am able to play music from my PC into any room in the house simultaneoslyncluding my PC speakers. Unfortunately, with this option I had to switch to iTunes from Windows Media Player. Hopefully Linksys will improve this product to do what the Airport Express does for streaming music with the compability of WIndows Media PLayer.

2 out of 5 stars Unimpressive   December 3, 2008
The sound quality is poor and the set up process can be troublesome. I would not recommend you buy this product.

3 out of 5 stars Great once you get it setup   December 2, 2008
Many reviews state this does not work with Windows Vista, this is simply not true anymore. There are drivers on Linksys' website and a firmware update for the unit that make it work for Vista. While the software update does allow it to work, it is not as smooth an interface as with XP. There is a forum on Linksys site which discusses almost every problem people have encountered.

The configuration is not easy, setup is a pain and can be frustrating. However, once successful(it does work eventually) the unit works seamlessly. I would say it helps to be network/tech saavy if you buy this product, not plug and play. However, if wireless networks do not scare you, this unit for the price is fantastic.

3 out of 5 stars Not bad, but could be better   December 2, 2008
Purchased this unit for use of playing music upstairs away from the PC. Once installed it has been working fine but the installation process took some doing. I'm a PC tech by trade so I was able to push through the 2 bad installations before FINALLY getting it to work properly. If your not real PC saavy you may want to get some help on the installation and config of the software.

I also found the use of any kind of wireless security (WEP/WPA) to cause spotty connectivity. Once on an open network (no security) though it's been fine. Go figure.

Cool tool in all, just not as reliable as it could be for everyday users.

5 out of 5 stars Manufacture date of unit: March 2008 - Installation w/ CD A-OK   December 2, 2008
Is it possible that they(Linksys/Cisco) have worked out the bugs? Within 10 minutes of opening the box and starting up the install CD(I followed the instructions listed on the quick install guide, connecting the WMB54G directly to the computer via the supplied ethernet cable), the unit found my wireless SSID and asked for the 128-bit WEP. I have tested it out with Pandora, my Locationfree player, and MP3s stored on a NAS. The only problem I ran into was the fact that the jack for the digital coax cable is recessed far too deep into the unit, therefore a "premium" digital coax cable will not fit(I think a previous reviewer mentioned this). I am running it in wireless mode.
