Product Description Replaces standard rear panel
Amazon.com Product Description Offering a remote thermostat and dual maintenance-free fans, the Salamander active cooling rear panel offers an efficient way to prevent heat buildup inside 20-inch-tall Chameleon A/V cabinets. The cooling panel works intuitively: just place the thermostat atop a component, where it will regulate the temperature and proportionally control the fan speed. The fans typically begin running at roughly 80 degrees and reach max speed at 95 degrees. Plus, they're notably quiet, so they won't distract you while watching a movie or listening to music. The cooling panel replaces your Chameleon cabinet's standard rear panel and uses a minimum of power: 1 watt at standby, 4 watts at mid speeds, and 8 to 10 watts at full speeds.

Customer Reviews:
Perfect for hiding electronics in Salamander cabinet May 31, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought this and the Salamander Chameleon Geneva cabinet from Amazon. The active cooling rear panel snaps into the rear of the cabinet, and has slots at the top and bottom to run speaker and power cables. It's a little difficult to install, as it's a very tight fit. Once installed, it does a great job of keeping the electronics cool with the auto-sensing thermostat that sits atop your electronic equipment. The two fans are quiet enough that I don't notice them running unless I am right next to the cabinet.
Overall, I think this cooling panel is a good idea if you want to enclose your home theater receiver and other electronics in a cabinet without the risk of overheating. I think it should be about half the price, but the fact that it's custom fit for the cabinet makes it a good complement for the Chameleon series cabinets.
