I purchased this for my husband who works swing and likes to watch TV when he gets off work and everyone is asleep. He also is a bit hard of hearing. They work great if you are centered to the reciever. If not centered they have a bit of a hum.
Pros and Cons of this TV777 Listener December 1, 2008
Pros:
1) It certainly would bring peace to your house. We've been using it for about 3 years. One can enjoy TV, leave the room quiet without disturbing another family member.
2) The headset volume is adjustable, it's especially good for the hearing impaired. When we watch TV together, I prefer not too loud but my partner with impaired hearing can simply wear it and adjust the volume.
3) Even the TV is turned off, you still can listen the channel with this Listener on.
Cons:
1) The foam cover on the earpieces is thin, it would be nice if the soft cover all around earpieces like the Bose QuietComfort headphones. The headset is cheaply designed and made of hard plastic, you might feel the ear hurts if wear more than couple hours.
2) The foam cover worn off after couple years, I've called the company, asked if there is a choice for a better, more comfortable headset or any plan to make it better designed one for the same model TV777, the answer is no. My guess is that for the low cost, Unisar Inc. founded in 1991, such small company has no desire for design improvement, since the product is still selling anyway.
My suggestion: for your low budget, this might be your choice. I'm personally researching on a more comfortable headphone.

Product works well. Easy to adjust for comfortable sound level. Lightweight, hardly notice your wearing them.

Bought this product for a senior citizen that is loosing their hearing. It works wonderfully; the senior reaches for this listening device all the time when going to watch TV. She just loves it. Would highly recommend this for a hard of hearing person.

Oh, how sweet it is when the spouse can hear the TV and you cannot! The headphones are comfortable, audio is clear and the unit is unobtrusive. All this and a great price, too.
