Amazon.com Product Description Mitsubishi's LT-46133 is a 46-inch 1080p flat panel HDTV that incorporates the latest technologies for more accurate color reproduction and a picture that is more life-like than before. This 46-inch HDTV would be ideal as part of a home theater system in a medium-sized room.
With Deep Color technology, shaded images show less banding and greater contrast. View larger. View back panel. |
The LT-46133 is just six inches thick and has a beautiful, minimalist look. View larger. | Lots Of Pixels In a Small Thin Box This 46-inch HDTV is just six inches thick but packs in a lot of technology for outstanding performance. Quality speakers are hidden away to maintain a beautiful, minimalist look that takes up less space in your room. The display is 1080p, which means it has the full 1920 x 1080 high definition resolution with progressive scan that is the highest quality HDTV standard today. With large televisions, this is important, as having a dense array of over two million pixels prevents the eye from seeing pixelation, especially at close distances. The television is able to display any video signal that is connected to it. When a 1080p signal is the input, it is passed through with no down conversion, and the 1080p signal is maintained from beginning to end, giving the best picture quality. When a lower resolution is detected, whether it is 720p HD or a DVD, the signal is automatically scaled to display at 1080p, with minimal side effects and a very detailed picture. Vibrant Colors You've Never Seen Before The LT-46133 incorporates a slew of new technologies that give this television the most realistic color reproduction available on the market today. The new x.v.Color standard is supported, which dramatically increases the color space available, with 80% more color than standard HDTV. The television also supports Deep Color, a new standard that incorporates 10-bit color depth versus the previous 8-bit color depth. With Deep Color, shaded images show less banding and greater contrast. Mitsubishi's Full Spectrum Color is an exclusive system that uses a wide range of phosphors in the LCD's backlight for brighter and more vivid reds and yellows, and more shades of green, cyan, and blue. Along with Mitsubishi's Color 4D Noise Reduction and PerfectColor, you get a wider color palette and the ability to fine tune the set to your exact preferences. The end result is a picture that is brighter, smoother, and more realistic than ever, with colors that have never been seen on a television set before. Connections Galore You don't need to worry about running out of connections with the LT-46133. It has a total of three HDMI 1.3 inputs with Simplay HD certification, so you can connect your Blu-Ray player and HD DVD player, and still have an input left over. It also has three component video inputs (two rear, one side), a side USB connection so you can display up to five megapixel photographs on the television, and two rear A/V inputs with S-Video, as well as a Dolby Digital/PCM output and an analog stereo output. The LT-46133 is backed by a limited 1-year parts and labor warranty. What's in the Box LT-46133 46-inch LCD HDTV, remote control, two AA batteries, owner's guide, quick reference guide, quick connect guide, product registration card, cable tie, and cable clamp.

This is an amazing HDTV, eye-opening experience on 480i December 1, 2008 I compared this unit simultaneously with similarly priced Sony, Toshiba, LG, and Samsung at a local store, this HDTV looked better in terms of color, contrast and brightness.
The store used a 720p video source which had a demo of arena football footage, and all of the sets showed similar motion rendering. However, the Mitsubishi has higher contrast, sharper image detail and less grain-related fuzziness.
I have seen and compared many different makes and models of HDTVs and it appears that there are two main types of designs for image quality. Some designs smooth out the up-scaled moving images by a method that produces a grainy picture. The grain is very pronounced when viewed up close especially on a unit >= 46" (closer meaning closer than the recommended viewing distance). The same grained image shows progressively less perceived grain as one moves further back (as expected). The other type of design uses a dynamic block-based method which shows block-related artifacts up close (closer than the recommended viewing distance), but crisp and detailed images further back.
I used my camcorder for a test using a 480i recording. The Mitsubishi appears to use the latter type of processing design. The Mitsubishi's pictures are amazing even for 480i sources. In rendering 480i video, it produces gradations of color and detail that only the top-end sets could render (as of this writing). This could be because of its high-end image processing algorithm. In lesser sets, images of facial features are usually rendered in blobs of monotone color bands. By comparison, the Mitsubishi is able to distinguish and render the slight variations in tonality that brings out image crispness and detail even in 480i video.
This series of Mitsubishi has xvColor support and 10-bit color panels. It is likely that the performance I saw can be partly attributes to the 10-bit panel as well.
Best LCD TV for the money June 3, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
After months of researching which brand to buy, I decided to stick with Mitsubishi. I had owned one of their TV for close to 20 years before it broke down. The repairman said they don't sell parts for this TV anymore, which forced me to look into purchasing a new TV.
I'd researched many brands of TV including Sony to decide which one was the clearest. Sony to me had the best picture but I was afraid to buy their TV because I had a history of repairs with their TVs.
Then when I saw the high rating on the Mitsubishi LT46133 in Consumer Report, I decided to purchase this TV.
The color is brilliant and the picture looks awesome. I brought an up-conversion DVD player and there's truly a difference in clarity between an up-conversion DVD player and a regular DVD player. I'm just waiting for the Blu-Ray player to go down in price.
The 3 HDMI inputs and 2 of each composite, component and S-video inputs really makes it convenient for all your video equipments.
If you purchase this TV, I suggest you lower the contrast, brightness and back light settings. Otherwise the color white would be too bright.
Amazon was great with delivering this. I ordered this Monday night and the TV was at my apartment Thursday morning.
Awesome TV at a great price! May 14, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Have owned this set for several weeks now, and absolutely LOVE IT! Spectacular color and picture quality, and great ergonomics with it's thin bezel, slim profile and swivel base. This TV has a great feature set, build quality and connectivity vs. Sony and Samsung, and no shiny black plastic!
I researched this purchase for many weeks, and found the Mitsubishi to be comparable to the best rated sets out there. Overall I'm very pleased with this purchase. Set was purchased and fulfilled from Amazon, and delivered on time without a hitch.
Great TV April 10, 2008 1 out of 3 found this review helpful
Thus far, this has proven to be an excellent TV with full features, great picture, and was easy to hook up
Great thin HDTV - just watch digital blur November 4, 2007 17 out of 17 found this review helpful
I haven't owned another HDTV, so I have little for comparison, but this thing looks great. Great viewing angle, great inputs/outputs. The menu is a little non-intuitive, the channel info box is big and blocks much of the screen until it eventually disappears, and channel changing in general is quite slow, but I think that's common for digital TV. --added a month later-- The HDTV "Blur" seems a excessive with this. Things are very clear unless there is a lot of movement. Dance and Sports are impossible to watch.
