Features:
  • Touch of Color bezel - While the crystal-like bezel frame catches light beautifully, it actually reduces reflection of light off the bezel. And since the rich red color is injection molded for a blown glass effect, instead of spray painted, there is less environmental impact. It's easy on your eyes as well as on the environment
  • Dolby Digital Surround (3 W x 2 ch) An invisible speaker system with Dolby Digital Surround (3 W x 2 ch) gives sound quality to match the impressive picture.
  • 10,000 - 1 Dynamic-Contrast Ratio - The ultra-wide range gives you blacks and whites that are full of detail, even under adverse lighting conditions (typically 1,000 - 1 static-contrast ratio)
  • 300 cdm2 Brightness
  • Full HDTV monitor - The T220HD features a built-in full HD 1080p digital HDTV tuner, so you can watch both TV and HDTVDual HDMI inputs, DVI and VGA inputs / 2 HDMI connections

5 out of 5 stars This monitor definitely improve my gaming experience   August 30, 2008
I ordered PS3 and I'd been tolerated with my old TV for 2 months, which it literally hurt my eyes. So I decided to get this monitor, and I'm glad I did.

The monitor has 2 HDMI ports, component, DVI, DVI-D, built-in TV tuner and speaker, and a remote control. The speaker is not so great, but decent enough if you're too lazy to hook up the extra speakers. It supports 1680x1050 for PC, and it's 1080p. The picture quality is great for PC with DVI-D and PS3 with a generic HDMI cable. I haven't tried the TV yet. But PS2 with component cable gives kinda crappy picture though, worse than a normal flat-screen TV. I guess it's because the resolution of the monitor is too high.

One warning about the shipping though, I paid for 1-day shipping and UPS managed to f- up my shipment and made it 2-day shipping, which was supposed to be free for me since I am a member of Amazon Prime. Nice going, UPS. True, $3.99 is not a big deal, but you guys definitely ruined my mood for a whole day. FedEx did a lot more professional jobs with this kind of expedited shipping.

In conclusion, I'm happy with this purchase. If you want to buy it, don't hesitate. Just don't pay too much on the shipping, cause UPS might stood you up anyway.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent Monitor   August 25, 2008
This monitor is excellent, nice definition on component, HDMI, and computer. The TV is just good, not excellent but you need to consider that this is a "Monitor" and the standard TV cable has lower resolution, but the definition still good. Good size, very nice color, and low energy consumption. The menu is huge. you can do whatever you want. And the price/value it superb.

4 out of 5 stars exactly what i need   August 22, 2008

I have a 20-month-old boy who loves to break things, so I have to take all my gaming consoles out fo the living room and into the study, where my PC is. So I thought it would be nice to get a LCD monitor with component input for my old consoles, as well as HDMI for potential new consoles. After lots of research I picked the T220HD, because it also comes with digital tuner. I am very happy with the choice because it is exactly what I thought it would be. it's very versatile and display everything well, and I am especially impressed with the digital tuner which picks up all the network OTA HD broadcast using a cheap indoor HDTV antenna, when my PCI tuner card (Avermedia A180) could pick up 2 or 3 using the same antenna in the same position. It's not perfect, however.

What's to like:
- Component input allows connecting older devices without HDMI.
- 2 HDMI ports
- Input source button cycles through only ports that are plugged in.
- digital TV tuner is excellent.
- Build in speaker/headphone jack/audio out port. Speakers are not great, but having them means you don't need extra adaptors to capture the audio from HDMI/component devices.
- Remote control. OSD navigation is so much easier and more intuitive with it. And this is really useful when turning the unit on/off, making this a true LCD TV.
- Has 16:9 aspect ratio option so that pictures don't have to be stretched to full screen.
- Unit is very light, only 13 lb.
- Picture is bright and clear, no dead pixel for me.
- Screen is matte, not glossy.

What's really annoying to me:
- Unit is light because base is mostly plastic, not very rigid.
- touch sensitive power on/off button. Everything else is tactile and on the side of the monitor, except for power. turning the unit on/off using this button usually requires several presses. Might that be that big of an issue if the unit is not so light and stand so flimsy, I have to grab the whole bottom edge when I try to turn it on this way. Good thing there's the remote.
- My unit has quite a bit of backlight bleed at the center of top and bottom edge. Hard to see when using DVI input, but when viewing HDTV, with the black bars on top and bottom to get the correct 16:9 aspect ratio, the bleeding is obvious.

What are the missing features which I don't care much about:
- the stand is basic, no height adjustment, no portrait mode
- no PIP
- can't be mounted to the wall
- Cannot customize the individual RGB color tone when in DVI mode. Can only select between one of the 3 presets (warm, normal, cool).

Other nitpicks:
- monitor frame has piano finish (glossy), including the inner side which reflects what's on screen. Kind of annoying , and maybe makes backlight bleeding seem worse than it really is.
- most of the connection ports are on the back of the unit facing back. While this makes the ports easier to see than a lot of other models that has the ports on the bottom facing down, it also makes insertion of wires, especially the component video ones, harder becasue you are pushing/applying force perpendicular to the LCD panel. You don't want to put your other hand on the LCD screen, but if you don't, then you really can't get a good push.

5 out of 5 stars great picture and sound   August 17, 2008
I was looking for a TV to watch videos and this was an excellent choice. I'm really blown away be how great VCR's appear. I also bought a Sony uoconverting DVD player. It's all a winner especially for the price.

5 out of 5 stars Perfect, versatile TV monitor!!   August 16, 2008

To previous reviewers who slammed this product just because it didn't have a wallmount option: nowhere does Samsung claim that these TVs are wall-mountable. Just because you didn't pay attention to product details doesn't mean the item is faulty...just that you picked the wrong one for your needs. Those who slammed this TV for its lack of a wall mount make about as much sense as someone trashing a beamer m6 for being bad for carpooling...

anyway, just got my 22" T22HD and it is beautiful, and comes with plenty of nice surprises...
for example,it's incredibly easy to assemble: they attach a special turning handle on the stand's phillips-head screws so you don't a screwdriver to put it together (tiny but nice improvement from the last samsung tv i put together: http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-LNT2354H-23-Inch-HDTV-White/dp/B000N50RUK/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1218910378&sr=8-3)
It comes with a ton cables for use with peripherals and PCs (haven't used these yet) and lastly, has a cool touch-based power "button" (no actual button, just press on the bottom right of the monitor's frame to turn it off and on)!
Once you manage to turn it on, the monitor's contrast adds nice depth to images and espn action clips stay pretty sharp.
Don't know much about the TV's longevity yet, but so far am loving every aspect of this red/black samsung 22" HDTV! :)
