| The NTSC (National Television Systems Committee) has established the color standards all TVs in America try to meet. And typical LCD TVs only meet about 72% of this standard. Samsung LCD HDTVs use Cold Cathode Fluorescent Lamp back lights to give you 92% coverage of the NTSC standard, ensuring truer, more breathlessly vivid colors. Samsung’s exclusive Wide Color Enhancer technology delivers more brilliant colors, even in bright areas of the picture where blues and greens are washed out on conventional screens. | Samsung’s Super Patterned Vertical Alignment (SPVA) panel provides a 178-degree viewing angle from all four axes | TruSurround is a patented SRS technology that solves the problem of playing 5.1 multichannel content over two speakers. TruSurround delivers a compelling, virtual surround sound experience through any two-speaker playback system, including internal television speakers and headphones. It is fully compatible with all multichannel formats up to 5.1 channels. High-quality virtual surround sound can be experienced with just the two hidden, downward-firing side-mounted 2.2-channel dome speakers built into the TV. SRS TruSurround XT technology delivers an amazing, simulated 3D effect with clear dialog and powerful bass. TruSurround XT audio also adds three audio enhancement technologies to produce an amazingly immersive sound experience. - Dialog Clarity brings movie dialog into Focus during the playback of any surround-encoded material to make speech much clearer and crisper.
- TruBass creates incredible deep rich bass allowing a person to perceive significantly deeper, richer low bass tones that are far beyond the physical low frequency capabilities of the speaker itself.
- The SRS WOW feature widens the sound stage by processing standard two-channel stereo material as well as multi-channel encoded material for a dramatic improvement in the playback of any stereo audio over a two-speaker system.
Stereo broadcast reception is offered for MTS and SAP with 181-channel capacity. A sound leveler keeps audio volume consistent during channel changing.
| With standard-definition TVs, the rule used to be that viewers would feel comfortable watching a set from a distance of 3 to 6 times the screen size in inches. With HDTV, the resolution is so much better that you can sit closer to a larger TV without noticing the pixels. So with HDTVs, the rule tends to be you can sit anywhere from 1.5 to 3 times the screen size (in inches) for the best experience. If you know the size of the room you have already, where you want to sit, and where your new HDTV should go once you get it, you can figure out the size HDTV you should get. - Minimum size = Viewing distance/3
- Maximum size=Viewing distance/1.5

Makes a Great Computer Monitor November 30, 2008 Bought this for use as a Computer Monitor. Great display at 1920x1080p resolution when connected HDMI/DVI. With a press of the remote, it also doubles as an HDTV when I want to catch the news, etc. Had it for about a month and no complaints. Got 2 other Samsung LCD HDTVs and they both are flawless, so far.
One thing to be aware of; if you connect it HDMI/DVI, be sure to use HDMI 2. This port is specially designed to configure itself for computer use.
Simply awesome November 12, 2008 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I bought this TV based on price and reputation and haven't been disappointed. I already have a 27 inch 720p HDTV and the difference is stunning. The picture is awesome! I also found it incredibly easy to set up. The big ergonomic remote is highly intuitive and easy to find, yet looks very techie. If I have a complaint it the internal speakers that don't push out enough sound, especially when viewing DVD's
Adorama Camera Tried a Bait and Switch November 3, 2008 34 out of 49 found this review helpful
Purchased Lcd TV from Adorama Camera and was sent a shipping conformation date. Then a couple days later, recieved a call from salesperson asking for a $175 dollars more for the model I purchased. They claimed Amazon made the error on the model price. I told them that this was not my problem and that I expected the unit that I bought to be shipped as per the conformation I recieved. They tried to offer me a lesser unit, but I refused. I tried to get trnsfered to the owner, Mr. Mendowitz, but kept getting transfered to diffrent sales people. I insisted on talking to the owner, and was told he would call me back. Next thing I know my order was cancelled and payment returned. So I filed a complaint with the BBB in New York on this firm. Be wary of the bait and switch these guys try to get you to either pay more or accept a lesser unit.
Great product October 21, 2008 4 out of 6 found this review helpful
Great product - I have a 46" Samsung and love the TV. This one is also just as high quality. However, I should have skipped the 1080p on a 32" and stuck with the 720. With this screen size you really can't tell the difference.
First HDTV for us October 9, 2008 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
We finally made the plunge and purchased this TV. We use it to watch TV and movies and to screen digital photos. We don't watch sports or use it for games. The picture quality is fantastic. We also purchased an upscaling DVD player (Philips DVP 5992/37, Costco) to go with this TV until Blueray players drop in price. The combo works very well together.
Pros: -Excellent picture quality -USB port for viewing (and very limited editing) of photos from a digital camera. You can quickly create an onscreen slide show. -Automatically communicates with DVD player via HDMI connection (no hunting for the video channel) -Well written instruction manual -Flexibility (energy saving modes, ability to change image size, variety of audio modes) -Easy to read and understand remote
Cons: -Lateral rotation of TV on stand is limited (maybe 45 degrees). Makes it hard to access the back of the TV if inside cabinetry. -Does not automatically display all photos in upright position, and you have to go three levels into a menu to do this.
I use this TV to quickly screen photos from my digital camera by loading them through the USB port. I can delete the duds using the TV remote, which is a big timesaver for me (and easier on my eyes than using my computer monitor). The digital photo quality is just stunning when viewed on this TV.
I purchased an HDMI cable through Amazon for connecting the DVD player to the TV, and saved a bundle by comparison to the local vendors.
