Ended up returning the itemJuly 26, 2010 Dominique W 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought this for my father-in-law for Father's Day. He was so excited to use it. We tried it on an area we knew there was a stud and it didn't detect the stud. At that point he was disappointed and was pretty much done with the product. I ended up returning it. I know this item worked well for many people, but it didn't work for us. Part of the reason I chose it was because of the positive reviews and the fact that the company answered some of the concerns via the comment section.
a coat hanger works betterJune 27, 2010 mark123123 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I had high hopes for this product, unfortunately i ended up just using a coat hanger because this FINDER located studs that were not there, so when i went ahead and trusted it and drilled there was nothing but empty space and drywall.
Wire warning does not seem to workMay 24, 2010 A buyer(CT) After an extremely bad experience with Stanley 77-115 IntelliSensor Plus Stud Sensor, I got this one from home depot. It seems finding the stud well, but the wire warning turns on so frequently that it seems there are too many wires behind the wall. At last I simply ignored the warning and drilled holes to the studs. Luckily I am still alive.
Simply uselessMay 17, 2010 O. Costich(San Marcos, California United States) 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
This thing is so inaccurate and inconsistent as to be useless. It "finds" studs that are a foot wide. In the same spot on the same wall, it "finds" no studs over a 4 foot range. Thinking I was doing something wrong I tried to call Zircon customer service. I listened to their "continue to hold" messages until the fully charged battery on my cordless phone died. Bad product from a bad company.
So Far So GoodMay 17, 2010 Gaspare Urso(NYC) I used it on a hanging a Racor PHL-1R Pro HeavyLift 4-by-4-Foot Cable-Lifted Storage Rack and it found every stud. I must have screwed a dozed screws across a single beam and every screw caught the 1st time. Works great, and the "center" graph works great. Like I said so far so good...
