Defective... RCA absolutely no help. July 24, 2008 4 out of 5 found this review helpful
I purchased this item for my small space needs due to the number of input/output jacks --
I got it home, plugged it in, put the batteries in the remote, hooked up the coax and... nothing... no picture, no sound -- just the red indicator light on the front panel to show that power was active. Then the unit would not turn OFF. No way to tell by looking if the remote works or not.
I rechecked the coax, the power, the batteries. Then I consulted the online user's guide which suggested I reboot. I unplugged overnight and called Cust Srvc in the morning -- after waiting 13 minutes to speak to someone and then going through the entire rigamarole _again_ C/S decided it was defective and asked me to fax them my bill of sale and home ph #. After receiving my bill of sale, I would hear back from their exchanges rep in 3-4 business days. Then I would be offered the exchange options.
The C/S I spoke to told me he wasn't qualified to tell me what those options would be... but at this point I was pretty annoyed and suggested what they might be. He then broke down and told me that the options were -- 1. send my unit back to them at my cost, at which time they could send out a replacement unit, also at my cost; or 2. pay for a new unit + shipping and when that arrived, send back defective unit at my cost and they would credit me for the defective tv upon their receipt. Time to get replacement item? unknown, but certainly more than 2 weeks.
yeah, uh... no. I'm taking it back to the store. No more RCA for me.
