The Venue Series Balcony loudspeaker reproduces audio in a big way. Equipped with JBL's tried-and-true titanium-laminate tweeters and PolyPlas woofers, the speaker reproduces high notes with extreme clarity. The lows and mids, assisted by the dual FreeFlow flared ports, are loud and clear, without unwanted distortion or boominess. The Elliptical Oblate Spheroidal (EOS) waveguide ensures sweet music and intelligible dialogue. Since the transducers were purpose-designed to work together harmoniously, JBL's simple Straight-Line Signal Path (SSP) crossover network divides the signal with minimal processing and minimal opportunity to degrade the signal. Sturdy gold-plated, five-way binding posts provide a strong connection that preserves all of the nuances of the original program. The computer-designed, lock-mitred cabinet virtually eliminates distortion, and its slim profile won't overpower your room. The Venue Series Balcony performs like a pro, with technology developed by JBL's Professional division. These are wonderful (rear surround) speakers for the price. They've got a nice, balanced sound, and the dual top ports allow for reasonable bass for their size.
The Venue series is JBL's replacement for the Northridge E Series, but they tend to look a little cheesier. There's a reason that the promo shots for these speakers never have the silver, cloth covers on them. All the same, good bang for your buck.

Exactly what I was looking for, for movies and stereo music, is just a great sound, for all the JBL speakers system bought from Amazon.

not the best speakers out there but for the money they are a great pair of speakers for side and rear surround crisp clear you can hear every high and low sounds with no distortion at all i have seen these speakers being sold in other stores for more for one then what amazon is selling the pair for great speaker for the price if you dont have a fat wallet
Great speakers for the price April 25, 2007
The best feature of these speakers is the price. For $100, I'm very satisfied. They look good on the wall as surround speakers as well. They definitely wouldn't be able to handle being the anchor or front speakers of a system, but they're perfect for surround or back speakers on a 7.1 system.

I am using these as my rear and rear surround speakers on a 7.1 stereo and think they sound great. Deep, rich sound (not tinny at all) that has really added to my home theater.
My only problem is the rather cheesy silver covers that fit on the front of the speakers. They look kind of cheap and I had one that kept slipping out (so I glued it in place.)
