Product Description The E100 dual 10-inch floorstanding loudspeaker, flagship of the Northridge E Series, delivers superb audio, whether used for critical listening in a stereo system, or when combined with a Northridge E center channel, bookshelf surrounds and a subwoofer to create a home theater system. The E100 performs like a pro, with technology developed by JBL's Professional division. Equipped with JBL's tried-and-true titanium-laminate tweeters and PolyPlas drivers, the speaker reproduces high notes with extreme clarity. The lows and mids, efficiently boosted by dual 10-inch woofers and assisted by the FreeFlow flared port, are loud and clear, without unwanted distortion or boominess. The Elliptical Oblate Spheroidal (EOS) waveguide ensures that every seat is the best in the house for sweet music and intelligible dialogue, or for just rocking out. Since the transducers were purpose-designed to work together harmoniously, JBL's simple Straight-Line Signal Path (SSP) crossover network divides the signal with minimal processing (and minimal opportunity to degrade the signal). Dual sets of sturdy gold-plated, 5-way binding posts enable bi-amping or bi-wiring. With the high, midrange and low frequencies isolated, the E100's four transducers can reproduce their frequency ranges more efficiently and with greater accuracy. The computer-designed, lock-mitred cabinet virtually eliminates distortion, and its slim European profile won't overpower your room.

excellant price and quality November 10, 2006 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I wanted a high quality speaker at a reasonable, low price. I got both with the Northridge speakers. I play big band, jazz, and classical music and I want accurite reproduction in respect to the music in a stereo mode. The grille arrived broken on one of the speakers and HK replaced it at no charge to me. I was pleased with this kind of service.
These are the speakers to get if you want to JAM! October 1, 2006 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Excellent speakers! Very controlled bass - no over the top boominess. Nice highs without being harsh. Definitely not a dull sounding speaker, but not irritatingly bright either. The speakers sound very natural and clean. Big, loud and powerful. You sense the air getting pushed around the room. Great at low or medium levels, but totally excel at very loud volumes when you want to rock out! If you don't plan on ever playing music at very loud levels there is no need for these speakers and you should look into something cheaper priced. I would recommend the Sony SS-MF750H speakers which are great floor speakers at a considerably cheaper price. But, if you need to SERIOUSLY rock out, these JBL E100's are perfect! Keep in mind though, they sound good with a full range of music even including the soft solo piano music I tried them on. They're just great, all around, powerhouse speakers that are there for everything you want to do with them. As far as their looks go, they look nice. Nothing really special about the way they look - just your basic big black boxes with grill cloths. Oh, one more thing. I did blindfold tests with my brother helping me out, playing CD's at random and randomly hooking up the speakers with either 14 gauge wire or BI-WIRING them with 16 gauge wire. According to the results, I picked the BI-WIRING offerings on most of the sample music I was played. (Not all, but most!) I definitely feel you can hear a subtle difference between the bi-wiring and normal wiring. After lots of testing, I decided to go with a 16 gauge, bi-wiring setup. The amplifier/receiver I'm using is an old Kenwood KR-A5060.
Good sound, good price. September 17, 2006 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought the JBL speakers since one month and i have finally connected the speakers using 2 cables for each speaker (bi-wiring). Boy, do they sound differently now? Absolutely. They sound like having more depth and clean sound in the upper high frequencies and also the middle range. I listened yesterday to Peter Frampton concert (1976 Frampton Comes Alive) and it sounded just like a long play LP record, just as I remember it when I had an LP player many years ago. I have spent 3 hours today listening to many albums and tracks and every one of them sounded much richer and wonderful. Its been a while since my musical listening habits have declined, but now I am listening more and more. I am now hooked again with music. It feels good to listen to music in high fidelity. The JBL speaker are definitely not the best speakers out there, however with their price tag and specifications, that are real winners and a perfect bargain, considering the price factor and build quality. I listened to Pink Floyd the Wall, and it sounded again just like the LP version. Are they better than the high end speakers? that's a tough question to answer, however the JBL can handle all type of music that you through on to them and will deliver that high frequency tunes and bass sound with no problem. I think that the JBL is very much suited for heavy rock music and reggae, and it will also suites more high notes SACD and SuperAudio material. It is also perfect for home theater environment.
More on this later on as I still need to break in the JBL speakers.
Great Speakers July 24, 2006 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
I have a pair of E100s and couldn't be happier with them. The sound is very full and warm, maybe moving toward bright at the top of the range. Don't pay too much attention to Mr. Dogen down below; these speakers are very tough to beat at the price offered here (I'd like to know where he intends to get the kind of speakers he mentions for $500 or less). Also, don't fall for his claim that smaller speakers require less power to drive; the idea here is the same as water in a pipe, just like the cable. These speakers are rated at 91dB efficiency, which places them in fairly rare company at this price level. I say you can't beat these JBLs for anywhere near this money.

The speaker sound is very good, wide range without an overbearing of bass.
