Nice sound, nice price February 14, 2008 I wouldn't exactly classify these as bookshelf speakers personally (check the dimensions) but they are compact when comparing them to older towers and some larger floor models. Awesome budget speakers, consumer reports gave them great reviews for sound which is why I bought them and I am not dissapointed. Can't go wrong unless you're looking for something smaller!
Not just best for the money. June 3, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I am driving these with a vintage Kenwood 40wpc amp. I don't think you can get speakers, that will fit on a bookshelf, any better than these. They are as good as (maybe better?) my custom built, 3rd order crossover, speakers. If you compare them side by side with the high end speakers, and want accurate reproduction, with low distortion, these will not only save you money, but will give you a better system. You don't need a boom-box (subwoofer) with these. Very neutral and natural sound. Not much for snob appeal, but who needs it.
A great little speaker April 27, 2007 These speakers were purchased with a little hesitation from the reviews. I have them attached to my receiver and they are great for my office space. Great sound, reasonable price. I wuld highly reccomend this product.
Good Bookshelf Speakers at a Reasonable Price April 7, 2007 I was in the market for a pair of bookshelf speakers to replace an older pair of JBL bookshelf speakers. Long term I would like to invest in refinishing my basement and setting up a high-end surround system. But, for now, I only wanted to spend $100 or less for good quality. I found just that in the Sony SS-MB350H bookshelf speakers. I am no audio expert, I only know what sounds good to me and have been very please with the performance of these speakers. I recommend these speakers for anyone in need of reasonably priced speakers with great performance.
A bargain for the money! April 4, 2007 I was certainly surprised by the quality when considering the price. A decent amount of bass is produced from the woofer. At high volume the sound is easily distorted in the woofer. These speakers do not handle much more than 100 watts and will blow out easily after extended use at high volume.
I used mine at my work in a warehouse and they lasted about two months before blowing out. I will admit they were put to the test and were often kept at extremely high volume and pushed hard through out the day. I felt they should have lasted longer- most of the speakers we have gone through last well over a year.
I would highly recommend these speakers for casual listening in a home, office, or garage. They are extremely oversized for bookshelf speakers but sound far better than most others in this price range. I feel they are good enough to perform as front speakers, but are better suited as a rear channel speaker in a surround system.
These speakers cannot handle abuse, so if big sound is what you're looking for, you would be better off spending a few more dollars on a better quality speaker.
