Easily driven by a modestly-powered amplifier or receiver, the 100-watt R20's highly efficient design provides open, spacious, and clear sound and is voice matched for lifelike surround sound environments. For clear and detailed high frequency response and realistic reproduction of vocals and instruments, the R20 uses a .75-inch silk/polymer composite Dynamic Balance dome tweeter. High efficiency, excellent bass is courtesy of a single, 6.5-inch mineral-filled polymer composite Dynamic Balance driver that is lightweight and stiff with good damping for lower distortion. Dynamic Balance technology produces flat frequency response, sharp detail, transparency and an ability to play program material with wide dynamic range at life-like volume levels without a hint of strain. The sound is always clean, clear, and effortless. Deep bass notes are further enhanced by the speaker's front-mounted bass port. I paid eighty dollars for my pair on Black Friday, but even at that appealing price point I am not sure if I will keep them or not.
These little speakers put out an amazing amount of bass...and not much else. Despite their impressive weight, these speakers' midrange and treble are both pretty lacking---muddy or non-existent, at turns. And since I already have a powered subwoofer, all that nice bass is kind of useless.
As rear surround speakers, maybe they'll do.
