Product Description Special effects add excitement to the home theater experience, but the dialogue in a great movie is just as important. While your front and rear speakers process action and effects, the VCS-10 center channel works with your surround sound receiver to produce dialogue with rich, natural tones that seem to come directly from the screen. Each phrase can be lifelike and clear, so you dont miss a word. The VCS-10 center channel speaker is designed to complement your TV or entertainment center. Its patented Compound Loaded drivers deliver clear, cinema-like dialogue. And Articulated Array speaker design locks dialogue on screen and provides a large consistent sound field for a cinema-like experience. The VCS-10 center channel speaker features slim, sleek dimensions that complement your television or entertainment center. Picture distortion is prevented by the VCS-10 center channel speakers magnetic shielding. This center channel speaker is an appropriate choice for upgrading your component home theater system one piece at a time.
Amazon.com Product Description Whether you're upgrading an existing surround speaker system or adapting your current listening system to accommodate the surround capabilities of DVD and HDTV programming, the VCS-10 center-channel speaker from Bose is your key to attractive, exciting home theater sound. Get more from your component system and let the whole family enjoy lifelike movie dialogue, even when people are seated off-axis from the speaker and screen. The VCS-10 is designed to complement your existing TV or entertainment center. Its patented Compound Loaded drivers are built to deliver clear, cinema-like dialog, and its Articulated Array drivers "lock" dialogue to the screen and provide a large, even sound field. The speaker's magnetic shielding prevents image distortion when the speaker is mounted atop a TV or computer monitor. The speaker comes with 4 pre-attached feet and 4 optional-use additional self-adhesive rubber feet. According to Bose, standard zip cord (2-conductor, 18-gauge wire) works for most applications. If your speaker will be more than 30 feet from your audio/video receiver or amplifier, however, Bose recommends 16-gauge wire (45 feet) or 14-gauge wire (70 feet), for hookup that maintains a maximum frequency-response deviation of +/- 0.5 dB. What's in the Box Center-channel speaker, adhesive rubber feet, a user's manual, and warranty information.

Nothing wrong with this center channel October 9, 2008 I've had this speaker for about 2 mos now. Nothing wrong with the speaker, I have a an 05 42' widescreen Sony rear projector tv. I have bose acoustic mass 10 cube speakers, but I think it was time to upgrade the center channel speaker. Okay about the reviews, everyone has there own opinion on this speaker, here's mine I have a shelf above the t.v. that's where I put the New center channel and 1 cube mounted on the wall above it, disconnected the cube speaker, connected the new speaker directly to the reciever (like another reviewer said) did some adjustments, again like the other reviewers said I could not hear the dialogue unless I turned up the reciever's center volume to max 10db. I thought (geez I should have listened to the reviews before I purchased this). So I connected the cube speaker with the center channel and whoala nice dialogue at last. But I did not run 2 centers at the same time I might damage the reciever. So here's what I did, went to the local hardware store bought some different "L" shelf brackets did some experimenting came up with "C" brackets with almost '3 1/4 gap, mounted the homemade speaker brackets under the t.v. stand. Using 2 brackets on the side and 1 in the rear, slid the center channel in , thankfully this speaker is curved so the "C" brackets are not visible and copied the other reviewer by using a 12 gauge speaker wire about '6 length (Old car sub wire) it worked. I did not want it sitting right on top on the t.v. nothing to hold it in place, the result... much better dialogue, don't have the center volume maxed, right now its set at 5db. try it, it worked for me. Bose speakers rocks!
Ok, but definetely showing its age and not for me. September 7, 2008 I like the styling of the speaker, however it just does not have any range. It would be good for a very basic system. I have a pretty serious system and I had to cut the fronts down (Klipsch) to +5 and leave the center at +12 just to hear without issue.. It is not that it is not a good speaker - it sounds good - it just cannot keep up with my surround sound system. The delivery of it was fantastic - however I knew I was sending it back the same day. I have no problem with BOSE - just this speaker is showing its age - it has been around and not modified for around 10 years..
Rangered September 4, 2008 There's a reason that Bose doesn't disclose the stats on their speakers. It's because they are very inefficient and basically only reproduce the middle range (in a muddy fashion). I sold my VCS-10 after 2 weeks and replaced it with a Klipsch..WHAT A DIFFERENCE! It was only $50 more, but is a light year better. Don't waste your money on this piece of junk, it will disappoint you.
Buy it for the low profile January 13, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This center channel speaker works fine. I don't own any other Bose products, I don't particularly like or dislike Bose, and I'm not an Audiophile. As other reviewers have mentioned, there are probably better-sounding center channel speakers for the price. I grabbed this one mainly because I appreciated its low profile styling; it is literally 3 inches tall.
I'm a Bose fan, but not this one, Bought it 2X's go for a Polk CS 1, even my cheapie speaker $15 was better >> December 19, 2007 I owned this speaker for a year or so and I was never really satisfied with the quality, it looks like a million bucks - but the quality is not there on this one.
I had a hard time hearing dialouge without turning this way up. Eventually I started to notice sort of a 'tinging' sound, so just for kicks I replaced the speaker w/ another I had in my daughters room - and POW, even that was better!
So I buy ANOTHER one, I figured maybe I had a defective one, it sounded the same. I returned it the next day for a Polk CS1, which is HUGE, so big I'm putting up a shelf behind my big screen, but the sound... INCREDIBLE, I can't believe what I've been missing, all along thinking I had a good center channel...
All I can think of is more and more is coming through the center channel these days, and this speaker doesn't handle it.
Trust me. I'm not a Bose basher, I have 3 bose systems, I have 301's up front which are fantastic - this center channel is truly insulting.
