5 out of 5 stars A great bargain at most any price   April 5, 2008
I bought one of these from Woot (a discount firm), and I couldn't be happier with this. The size of this belies the sound: crisp, resonant, enjoyable. You don't get great stereo separation, but that's not the goal. Music still sounds very present and lifelike. This plays off my Pioneer Inno just great, and it's superb for listening to non-music material like THIS AMERICAN LIFE or other great NPR programs (CAR TALK guys?). Runs a long time on a charge, is easy to pocket (or keep in the car), and even saves batteries if it doesn't detect an input signal. This is a underrated gem.

5 out of 5 stars Impressive   March 25, 2008
I bought this when it was $13. Great deal at that price but it also helps you put this review into context.

For a handheld unit, this is a great speaker. The highs are good and it also has a small bass port which gives it good bass (considering its size). My first impression was "Wow" when I first heard it. I'm pretty sure this is one of the better sounding AAA battery powered speaker.

For all the iPhone users out there, this speaker comes with a 3.5mm male to 3.5mm male connector (for use with cars AUX ports) that actually fits the iPhone's recessed ports (without the need for an adapter). Its only a foot long but it works!

My major negative is that there is some distortion at higher volumes so you will have to adjust the volume for distortion. Personnally, I haven't seen a handheld speaker without distortion at higher volume levels.

4 out of 5 stars good sound for the price   March 21, 2008
I bought this cheaper than the $49 it is listed for now (I think it was around $20) and for that price I am pleased with it. A small speaker, good sound, and great portability. It's also very simple and doesn't require you to read detailed instructions to figure it out. Power it up, attach your mp3 and your ready to go.

5 out of 5 stars Currently the best, but even better with an Ipod Nano 2 or 3 G   January 24, 2008
I bought this for $2.57. Not really, but what's with all the "reviews" by bargain-boasters--from iPod speakers to HDTVs? If you got a deal, I say bully for you. But does that make you a better person, or even a more admirable one? More to the point, what does your self-advertisement tell the reader about the product?

I picked up the Saitek on an Amazon Gold Box sale, fried the insides by using it with an incompatible adapter, but missed it so much that I paid full freight for a replacement. In short, this is the fullest-sounding speaker in a convenient, practical size that I've found (the most recent return was the overrated, bulky and ugly "iMainGo" portable speaker system). The Saitek is flat enough to slip easily into a pocket, yet it has plenty of punch, good treble and adequate bass. (The iMainGo has "volume" but little range not to mention wasted space and a problematic battery compartment)

The included accessories for the Saitek show the same attention to quality, with 3 types of connectors. Above all, the right-angle Sony mini-plug is a nice addition for any iPod Nano owner. You can spend twenty or more bucks just for a video stand for the Nano 3 g. The Saitek offers the same provision, except the "stand" is also a mini-stereo system that does wonders for the 2" video screen of the Nano.

4 out of 5 stars The best tiny speaker   December 8, 2007

If you want the best tiny speaker, this is it. I'm talking about a speaker that will fit in your pocket if you have baggy pants. I have A Bunch of portable speakers. This has the best sound quality. Of course, it matters where you place it to get the most out of its bass. My son likes this one the best. Now, if you want the most bass and loudness, BY FAR, go with the mm28. It blows all other small portable speakers away, but it's double the size of this one and is heavy in the mid-bass area. If you put it on something hard and run it at a higher volume, it shakes and rattles on the surface. How many portable speakers have that problem? If your traveling with a laptop, then the Saitek might be better. If you plan on bringing music to the park, then the mm28 has 4 times the volume and 10 times the bass. Buy dot com had these for $12 delivered and the mm28 for about $16 delivered. Just to give you an idea of the mark-up on these. Still, if you only want the best, I believe each of these are the best depending on what you are looking for. The Saitek has about two times the mass of your standard mouse - and the same shape. mm28 = tad bigger than 11x4x1.
