I had been out shopping for home theater systems and saw mostly one-brand types. Usually the receiver was good and the speakers weren't. When I happened onto this Polk/Yamaha system on Amazon and saw the savings I realized I realized that for nearly the same money I could add a really high quality 7.1 channel audio system to my flat panel, not a compromise system. The package comes complete with everything you need to hook it up, even an HDMI cable. Took me a couple of hours to get it all together, with the addition of a Sony Blu-Ray player. After listening to my flat panel tv speakers for a few weeks, to say I was amazed is an understatement. It's like a whole new experience. The Polk speakers (and sub) really rock and the Yamaha has plenty of power to drive them to theater levels. Listening to music is really good too. The system even came with an optional iPod dock so now I can hear all of my playlists over a great sytem. The Yamaha has a compressed music enhancer which really helps restore the compressed music to pretty good fidelity. All in all, I'm extremely satisfied. Polk and Yamaha are very compatible. I've already recommended the same system to critical friends.

This system includes a Yamaha RX-V663 receiver and iPod dock along with 7 Polk speakers and a Polk Sub woofer. I helped my brother set up this same Yamaha YXV663 receiver and ipod dock along with Polk speakers and this same Polk sub woofer. He bought these audio components separately a few of months ago before he knew you could buy it as a package for less $. These products really sound great together! The receiver is hooked up to a blu-ray player and new flat panel TV using an HDMI cable. There are four buttons on the front of the receiver called "scene" that do all the switching when he wants to change from blu-ray to cable TV or radio. It's pretty easy to use. The sub woofer also thumps (and I mean that in a good way). This is a great home theater system if you appreciate great high quality audio and also want a little power behind those speakers. The components play well together.
