Product Description Yamaha's new SR-Bass technology maximizes internal energy to produce bass that is deeper and more powerful than you would think possible from a compact speaker. The NX-A01 also benefits from Yamaha's long tradition of excellence in speaker design. The speaker unit is a 3cm titanium cone capable of skillfully reproducing the entire frequency range. Click here for more information about SR-Bass. Portable audio players are everywhere these days, not only outside but in the home too. The super-convenient NX-A01 lets you take off the headphones and fill a room with big, high quality, bass-rich sound. The NX-A01 is a small cube less than 3.5(9cm) on each side. Yamaha Does It Again August 9, 2008 Incredible sound from such a small enclosure! Perfect for laptops and would be even more awesome if Yamaha could mate it with a micro subwoofer!
Nice little speaker delivering good sound and volume August 8, 2008 Bought this to plug into a Sonos in a small room. Very nice little speaker, ideal for background music. Obviously it struggles at higher volumes but delivers high quality sound and a fair amount of bass for its size.
It's a shame Yamaha don't offer a bigger version of this with a Fiber optic input. It would definitely make my life easier :)
Price wise I think it's a great little speaker and works great with my laptop also.
Nice Sound April 29, 2008 This is a very nice speaker. For it's size the sound is surprisingly good. Compared to other travel speakers, frankly the sound is outstanding. There really is a bit of bass, no rumble, but you can definately hear good low tones. I'm pretty particular about sound, and this speaker worked very well for music, movies, and computer. Dialog was very clear to me. It worked great with my iPod, cell phone, DVD player, and computer.
On the one hand, I wish it were battery operated. For travel that would be nice. But on the other, batteries would probably compromise the amplifier quality and likely make it heavier.
I thought the length of connecting cable was perfect, not too long, not too short. The AC adapter cord is nice and long. I wish it came with some kind of travel bag to hold the speaker and the AC adapter.
I'm happy I bought this speaker. It's very nice, a nice price, and very nice sound for a road warrior.
Small size, great sound and price January 21, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Just as advertised. Doesn't take up much room, but delivers on sound for a reasonable price. Bought it for my daughter for her dorm room. She really likes it. Will use it for computer and her iPod.
Good Sound...but January 20, 2008 This unit looks extremely sharp and sounds very crisp, clean, and deep for such a small speaker...comparable to the Bose mini. However, when I was looking for a "portable" speaker for my itouch, I wanted something powered by batteries rather than AC outlet only. Kind of defeats the meaning of "portable". I did find a nice spot for it on my nightstand. If and when Yamaha makes a unit powered by batteries, I would definitely but one or two.
