Amazon.com Product Description
The compact, lightweight Sharp DT100 home theater projector turns your living room into cinema. It's small enough to easily fit on a shelf, cabinet or small side table, and it can also be mounted on the ceiling with optional hardware. The DT100 offers a huge picture that's great for watching sports, movies, TV and even playing video games. It has an 854 x 480-pixel resolution that's compatible with HD video resolutions (including 720p and 108i as well as 420p, 540p, 576p, and 1035i). You can project an image on a screen ranging between 40 and 300 inches from a distance, and you'll get a 100-inch 16:9 widescreen aspect ratio view at distances between 11' 7" and 13' 5".

The DT100 uses Texas Instruments "Matterhorn" widescreen 0.6" DMD (Digital Micromirror Device) leads to superior image quality. The optical mechanism of this DLP projector is sealed in its structure, preventing dust, dirt and smoke from entering the core components of the optics.

The 2500:1 contrast ratio enhances the DT100's ability to discern fine, detailed differences between the darkest and lightest colors and provides superior black level reproduction. It also offers an exceptionally high 1000 ANSI lumens brightness rating for excellent viewing even with ambient light. The six-segment, 5x speed color wheel provides flicker-free, high-grade images with accurate color reproduction

This projector offers your choice of video connections: RCA composite video, S-Video, and two 15-pin D-Sub (PC VGA) inputs. You can connect from your home theater receiver, directly from a DVD player, or from your home PC.

What's in the Box
Home theater projector, remote control (with batteries), lens cap, power cord, RCA A/V cable to 15-pin D-Sub adapter, printed operating instructions

I had done an extensive research before buying this fantastic equipment. spending money in excess of $500 for home projectors should give you returns. So you need to choose carefully.

My advice: search no more; just go ahead and buy this product. Absolutely great! period.

5 out of 5 stars Great Projector, but needs minor fix at high altitude   July 30, 2007

We bought this projector as part of a low cost home theater to put in our basement. It was easy to install and configure (we have it on a ceiling mount) and displays an incredible picture which is much nicer that I had imagined we would get in this price range. We paired this with a Pioneer sound system / DVD player and a home-made projector screen (instructions online) and now have a really terrific home theater for under $1,000.

However, after only 2 weeks the projector suddenly went dead -- bummer! So I took it to the closest authorized service center where the repairman took one look at the model and knew what the problem was. The projector needs a software upgrade at high altitudes to adjust the fan speed. Without the adjustment, the system will overheat and burn out a small component which is exactly what happened to ours. The service shop replaced the burned out part, upgraded the software, and assured us that this model would now run trouble-free for years to come.

We live in Colorado at 6,000 feet and are now again enjoying our Sharp projector. I recommend it highly, but if you get one (or are considering it) and live at high altitude, I suggest that you call your local Sharp service center and ask if you're likely to have a problem where you live. If so, take the projector in and get the software upgraded BEFORE it breaks. If you wait for it to break you'll likely to be without your projector for a while if they don't have the replacement part in stock.

5 out of 5 stars Pleasantly Surprised!   July 23, 2007

Just starting to dabble in the home theater hobby, I was looking for a cheap projector to experiment with. This was the least expensive I could find, but WOW!! I had it hooked up to a mini-DVD player and an old set of computer speakers and I had an instant home theater in less than 15 minutes. I am not very technical when it comes to audio visual equipment. What a fantastic picture! Even with light coming into the room a movie is quite clear, but in the dark the image is amazingly clear and bright. Who needs a $2,000 plasma??? This is much more fun.
