Bass management, bass boost, and audio DSP listening modes give you control over the sound so you can tailor the settings to your needs. Great for a HTB December 7, 2004

When looking for a home theater in a box (HTB), I chose this Kenwood system in large part due to the inclusion of a full-featured receiver. For most HTB systems you buy, the speakers are powered by a multi-purpose DVD/CD/Receiver system. These lack expandability, not to mention they are usually underpowered (often well under 100W per channel). With this system, in the future you may decide to pitch the speakers, but the receiver will readily power whichever new speakers you choose.
Out of the box, the sound is great. As mentioned in many other HTB reviews, some higher quality speaker wire will be a good future investment, but I was pleasantly suprised at the sound quality with the included wires.
